also known as Fragmenta Quedlinburgensia; Fragmenta Magdeburgensia; Fragmenta Quedlinburgensia et Magdeburgensia; Quedlinburg Itala Fragment

TM Gallery info The Quedlinburg Itala Fragment (TM 67208) is one of the oldest illustrated manuscripts of a Biblical text, probably written around 420-430 in Italy. The preserved section translates 1 Samuel, an Old Testament Book, in the so-called Vetus Latina version. This translation antedates the later one by Hieronymus, which became canonical as the Vulgate. The manuscript was found in various stages in the bindings of books kept in Quedlinburg Abbey. Most fragments are now in Berlin, but one is in the Stiftskirche in Quedlinburg.
