Birthday Invitation of Sulpicia Lepidina

The Birthday Invitation of Sulpicia Lepidina (TM 114529 ) was sent by a woman called Claudia Severa for her party on 11 September, somewhere around AD 97 - 103. The invitation is one of the best-known of the about 800 Latin wooden tablets from Vindolanda, a settlement near Hadrian's Wall. It illustrates social life of the elite, the wife of commander of a nearby fort inviting the wife of a prefect of a cohort stationed at Vindolanda.
