Tabula Cortonensis

The Tabula Cortonensis (TM 173868 ) is an Etruscan bronze tablet of impressive dimensions (50 by 30 cm), probably preserving a contract, perhaps an inheritance or sale. It mentions a vineyard, an estate near lake Trasimeno, and some tableware.
The tablet was found in 1992 in Cortona, Italy, allegedly at a construction site. After reconstruction of the seven pieces brought forward to the police, a bottom corner was still missing, which is why the find was kept secret. The eighth fragment has not shown up, and the tablet is shown in the musuem in Cortona today.
