Bobbio Jerome

The Bobbio Jerome (TM 66467 ) is a 7th century AD manuscript of the Commentary on Isaiah, the longest extant work of St. Jerome (the Latin translator of the Vulgate). As a palimpsest, it covers a 6th century Gothic translation of the Bible by Ulfilas.
The codex can perhaps be connected with Atalanus, the second abbot of the monastery in Bobbio, and belonged to the famous library which inspired Eco for his novel The Name of the Rose. It is currently preserved in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in nearby Milan.
