Vortipor stone

The Vortipor stone (TM 172256 ) is a 'bilingual' stone recording the name of the deceased in both Latin and Ogham script. Upon discovery, it was thought that this was Vortipor, the king of Dyfed who ruled in south-west Wales in the early 6th century AD. The inscription identifies Voteporigis (Latin) or Votecorigas (Ogham), however, and in view of the missing r another individual may be meant.
