Grave Stele of Dexileos

The Grave Stele of Dexileos (TM 794260 ) is an impressive marble funerary monument for a young Athenian cavalryman who died in battle during the Corinthian War. The stele was discovered in situ in 1863 and was moved to the Kaerameikos Museum in Athens after WW II. Dexileos is also known from another monument as one of the five knights who died, probably in the battle of Nemea (394 BC).
