Tabula Clesiana

The Tabula Clesiana (TM 558342 ) is an impressive bronze tablet of 50 by 38 cm weighing 7,2 kg. It was discovered in Trento in 1869 and is now housed there in the Museo Castello del Buonconsiglio.
The Latin text contains an AD 46 edict of the emperor Claudius on two matters. The first is a dispute between two tribes living in the Alps over land that actually belonged to the emperor himself. The second grants general Roman citizenship to the Anauni, Sinduni and Tuliassi, instead of the complicated situation before (these Alpine people had not received citizenship after the integration of Cisalpine Gaul, but many had tried to pass of as Romans nonetheless).
