Vergilius Palatinus

The Vergilius Palatinus (TM 65875 ) is a 4th-5th century AD Latin manuscript fragmentarily preserving the Eclogae, Georgica and Aeneis. Well preserved and early, it is one of the most important codices in the tradition of Virgil. In the 9th century it was in Lorsch abbey, but when this monastery was discontinued around 1556, it was transferred to the Palatina in Heidelberg, hence its name. Later it landed in the Vatican as booty, where it still is today, although it was transferred by Napoleon to Paris for about twenty years.
